This is the game of the moment for good or not so good reasons. So it is an unavoidable topic. I will take you through my experience so far:

  • Why I bought it;

  • What I like and what I don't;

  • and finally how this game makes me feel like a different Deus Ex.

There will be No SPOILERs

Story on how they got me

Actually it is very easy: I loved playing the Witcher and Cyberpunk environment in general:

  • The Matrix is one of my favorite movies

  • I watched season 1 of altered carbon two times and read the book

  • I played and enjoyed playing 3 Deus Ex games (One on PC and 2 on Xbox).

I was an easy target. Bought the game without googling, checking a before you buy guide or anything like that.

It is like going to the Avenger End Game even if it will be lamest movie of all time (It wasn't btw). I was just programed to have it.

Overall Impression

On one side it is not exactly the wow level after 8 years of waiting and the hype built around it in addition to all the complaints around the bugs and the fact that the game is just not made to run on previous Gen consoles.

On the other side it is so far a great RPG with a beautiful environment and gameplay that I am still discovering.

I am sharing with you my impression of playing the game in progress and not a full analysis of every single aspect of it.

Beautiful environment and storyline.

A beautiful futuristic environment with reference to few Old School stuff if you can spot them. A storyline that I will not spoil that has a ton of side missions and characters to meet.

Sometimes I just walk around and look at the environment, the details and sometimes items on the office tables.

There are some characters that look very nice graphically

The Huge character development

This is an RPG a Serious One. If you played similar titles before be ready to spend AGES in the character development.

You have 5 main character attributes. Completing missions will add points and you will distribute them.

Each character attribute has 2-3 perks. Perk level grows when you execute the skill. For Example the more you use handguns, higher the level. Yes not a fan of blades so far :)

Inside each perk, there are at least 20 other. Below you can see the expansion of the "Reflexes" attribute

So a quick calculation at 5 + 5x3 + 5x3x20 = 320

A nightmare for me as I will read every option 3 times before I choose.

One tip: don't spend all points when received, leave always a point as you might encounter a situation where it will be helpful.

"Choose your might" and don't forget there is a game to play after the upgrades :)

This is only the character development. We still have weapons and armor. So Hours and Hours if this is what you like.

I can't do them all. I finished Fallout 4 without upgrading a single gear. only weapons. Might end up doing something similar.

Gear & Costumes - Best or stylish ?

Very Witcher style of presentation. There are tons of gear and costumes that you can obtain, win, buy or loot from killed enemies. If in the Witcher it was almost straight forward. Best Characteristic is always on. Here the best you have can look VERY UGLY.

There is a short that has more armor than pants will you go for the short ?

The Hacking

You can upgrade your body similar to DE. Depending on the body part and available schematics possibilities and skills are huge.

and you can upgrade your hacking deck with different new hacking techniques like render his weapon useless, making him blind, and so much more.

You can also be hacked during a fight affecting your status. This is quite interesting.

Dislike

Orientation & Map

Moving around is weird sometimes and the map zoom level is very limited, still trying to get use to it but so far to reach from point A to point B it is better for me to look directly on the road rather than the map. There is actually one game where it is worse but made on purpose : Nier Automata.

The best way I am able to move around is by looking at the streets and the objective. Quick look on the map but not more.

The Driving - outside view is ok but the cockpit is nice visually but not very practical to navigate the streets.

An Air of Deux Ex

This was the first impression as I played it on PC during the 90s in Addition to Human Revolution and Mankind Divided. Btw this is a screenshot from it.

The character upgrade based on different parts of the body

The freedom to attempt the same tasks in very different ways depending on your current abilities and playstyle (guns blazing, stealth, backdoor, hacking, influencing the right person, etc...) Btw I haven't see a lot of back door or ventilation shaft entries in Cyberpunk, they were very useful in DE.

The Witcher like elements

A lot of similarity in the organization of the game and the menu.

  • RPG with main quests and side missions and character upgrades for hours of customization. hope there is a reset all characteristics potion equivalent :)

  • You can Dress up - if you liked the way it works in the Witcher 3 here you are going to love it.

There is only one problem :) In the Witcher I will always take the best gear. Here sometimes you will prefer the more stylish one even when I loose some effect or characteristics :D

  • You can accelerate time

  • Dialog options

Bugs and Problems Encountered

I am playing on the Xbox One X. So far so good some weird stuff here and there but nothing catastrophic, more focused on the story and unless it is a bug that prevents me from moving forward or completing an action/mission I will not be peaky on having the most polished graphics.

as you can see these are the games i played in December where frankly graphic doesn't count. pure gameplay.

pic of katana zero and the messenger

Conclusion

If you like the genre and you have at least a good PC a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X, you can go for it you will be able to enjoy a descent RPG for LONG and VERY LONG Hours.

Played the whole week here and there but still have the impression that I know nothing about the game.
